About me and how I can help

All of us have experiences in life that can feel overwhelming. This can lead us to feel stress, worry, sadness or depression. Over time our self esteem and confidence can become eroded and it can be difficult to see the wood for the trees.

Such experiences could be brought on by change at home or at work, or the loss of a loved one.

It could be that something from the past has come back to haunt you, or something on the horizon is presenting as a threat.

In fact just about any negative life event can result in us feeling that the quality of our lives is not what we would want it to be.

Counselling can help.

My name is Dean and I am a counsellor and therapist based in Stafford. I have over 25 years experience helping people through a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties.

I originally trained as a Mental Health Nurse and worked in variety of National Health Service settings. After undergoing further training in counselling and psychotherapy, I worked in and managed a psychological therapy service in South Staffordshire. I retired from the NHS in 2018.

For many years I was also involved with The British Army, and helped service personnel with issues relating to their service. I now offer my services in my private practice,

throughcounselling.

I have a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology and I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP),which acts as my professional governing body. The BACP has a framework of ethical practice, which includes such things as confidentiality, and I work within that framework. I am fully insured, and I am also registered with the Information Commissioners Office of the UK government regarding all matters concerning Data Protection. I mention these aspects so you can be assured that if we work together you are in safe, competent and compassionate hands
